I graduated in 2015 from the University of York with a First Class Degree in Biochemistry. I recently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP University achieving a Distinction grade. A Levels - Biology (A), Chemistry (A), Mathematics (A).
Experience
My academic background equips me well to teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to and including GCSE level, and Biology at all levels in addition to law up to A level. I am polite and friendly and keen to assist with the learning of all age groups. For the past 18 months I have tutored several families in Maths and Science at a range of levels. Over this time, I feel that my tutoring style has developed and adapted, and I now have a greater understanding of the most effective methods of explaining complex concepts to students, and preparing said students for upcoming examinations. However, from tutoring a variety of students at different levels, I recognise the importance of being adaptable and the need to employ different techniques to suit different learning styles. It is essential that outside of the sessions, students are equipped with suitable revision strategies to employ on their own. I feel that it is important to make tutoring sessions interesting and enjoyable, and I strive to do this by integrating interactive activities into the session. This aims to make the information more memorable and the sessions less repetitive. It is important to assist students with their learning rather than too quickly telling them the answer. Therefore, I attempt to guide towards the correct answer by asking questions, and ensure that a student is confident enough with a topic that they are able to repeat back to me how they got to the answer afterwards.
