Experience
Having been a bona fide science teacher at a challenging secondary state school, the rewards of small group or one-to-one tutoring are extensive. The content can be explored with a degree of personalisation that is impossible in a classroom setting, leading to real engagement and a more robust understanding of the material, In addition to work with private students, I have also tutored with the Oxford Science Studies summer school, every level from GCSE, iGCSE to IB, AS-Level and A-Level. Qualified Teacher Status attained at Longhill High School, Brighton, teaching KS3 science, KS4 double award science, and KS4 triple award physics. 2015-2016 My professional practice has been further developed by courses and seminars provided by the Stimulating Physics Network, the Institute of Physics, the Association of Science Education, and the Department for Education and Social work, University of Sussex. I have also worked in industry as a research physicist at a leading ultrasound R&D firm, and am in the process of moving back into academia to take my PhD in theoretical physics. I would be delighted to offer advice regarding either of these career paths.
